We connect you to free safety and health & wellness classes that will help you become a better driver. Drivers get paid $300 to complete the Defensive Driving Class every three years and they get a one-time payment of $150 to complete The Black Car Fund Wellness, Safety, and Education (STEP) Program.

There are three (3) courses available:

• The Black Car Fund Driver Education Course
• The Black Car Fund (BCF) Safety Course-Defensive Driving
• Black Car Fund (BCF) Wellness STEP

Features

• Several free classes are available at The Black Car Fund Wellness Center and the Independent Drivers Guild throughout the year
• Drivers get paid $300 to complete the Defensive Driving Class every three years.
• Drivers get a one-time payment of $150 to complete The Black Car Fund Wellness, Safety and Education (STEP) Program.

The Black Car Fund Driver Education Course: 

This new, in-depth course provides details about all the benefits The Fund provides, at no cost, to its Covered¹ Drivers. 

• The course is 4 hours and Drivers will be compensated $250 for completing the IN-PERSON Course or $125.00 for completing the ONLINE Course.
• Can be taken once every 3 years

Note: Covered Drivers can earn $125 for completing this course online only once every three years. Drivers who have taken this course in person cannot also complete it online. Drivers who choose to complete it online cannot also complete it in person within the same 3-year period.

The Black Car Fund (BCF) Safety Course-Defensive Driving:

This course includes the TLC-mandated Defensive Driving Course (DDC-6) “Approved by the National Safety Council”. Every eligible Covered Driver affiliated with a Member Base of The Black Car Fund may take the Safety Course once every three years and receive compensation of $300 from The Black Car Fund after completing the course.

• Can be taken once every 3 years
• Take the in-person course and earn $300 when the course is complete.

The Safety Course is held every day from 10:00AM to 6:00PM.

Black Car Fund (BCF) Wellness STEP

This course is designed to help drivers improve their physical and mental health on the road. Additional segments include “Share the Road” and Hands-Only CPR training. This class is held every Wednesday. Every eligible Covered¹ Driver affiliated with a BCF Member Base of The Black Car Fund may take the Wellness Step Class once every 3 years and receive compensation of $150 from The Black Car Fund after completing the course. 

• Can be taken once every 3 years
• Take the in-person course and earn $150 when the course is complete.

¹ Covered Drivers must be affiliated with a Black Car Fund Member Base (including Uber and Lyft).

All Courses are paid for by The Black Car Fund.  Payment can take up to 8 weeks after course completion.

How to Use This Benefit

Call us at 1-833-814-8590 to sign up for any of the following classes:

• Eligible drivers receive $300 to take the Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC)-mandated Defensive Driving Class through The Black Car Fund.
• Eligible drivers receive $150 to take The Black Car Fund Wellness, Safety, and Education (STEP) Program through The Black Car Fund. The wellness course is designed to help drivers improve their physical and mental health on the road.
